Purpose of The Foundation

Connecticut Maritime Foundation Inc (CMF) is a non-stock corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The nature of the activities to be conducted and purposes to be promoted or carried out by the CMF are to engage in environmental activities related to Connecticut’s maritime region by performing the following activities:

• Participating in activities related to reducing the environmental impact of maritime traffic in the Northeast region of the United States. Older diesel engines in commercial marine vessels emit large amounts of pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. These pollutants aggravate asthma, damage lung tissue, and cause other serious health problems.

• Maintain a website available to the public detailing CMF activities associated with reducing pollutants associated with maritime traffic.

• CMF’s primary sources of revenue are government grants.

Title VI Civil Rights

The Connecticut Maritime Foundation, Inc. (“The Foundation”), grants all citizens equal access to its services. The Foundation is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in the conduct of its business, including its responsibiliities under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which provides that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under its delivery of services.
